Are you ready for a great summer at Day Camp?
Get ready to discover the Water Wonders of the Bible!
Each week this summer, we will focus on a different Bible story involving the sea and water and what the Bible says about it along with our weekly movie, field trip and pool time.
See below for details and sign up today! It's long, but please read all of it carefully. The info below should answer most of your questions. :D
**IMPORTANT**
There will be two parent orientation meetings for all new families (and strongly encouraged for returning families) before camp begins. Please make plans to join us on either Monday, May 4th or Monday, May 11th at 7 pm each evening in our fellowship hall to make sure you have all the information you need and all your questions answered.
When: 9 weeks! Monday-Friday beginning May 26 and ending July 24 from 9am to 4 pm. We will not have camp on Monday, May 25th for Memorial Day.
Who: Pre-K (4yo) to rising 5th graders. When filling out the forms, please use the grade your child will be going into this fall.
Where: Drop off and pickup at the fellowship hall.
What to bring: Lunch, a good attitude and a sense of adventure! (For lunch, we do have a microwave if the food needs to be heated. On field trip days, please pack items that will not need to be heated. We will not have access to a fridge or microwave on these days.) Also, please make sure your child has appropriate shoes - no flip flops or crocs on field trip days! Shoes must be closed toed tennis shoes for field trips.
What will you do? We plan on field trips to fun places, swimming at Oconee Aquatics and Recreation, movies at University 16, crafts, games, bible lessons, food and more! We have an overall transportation form as part of the registration. Each child will need to have this form filled out and signed before he/she can participate in field trips. In addition, there will be a parent permission roster form that will need to be signed before any off campus trips.
Movie Days:
The movie schedule will likely not be released by University 16 until much closer to summer. We will let you know what the titles they have chosen when we know. We will assess movie appropriateness and may opt out of certain ones BUT in general, count on the movie trip to happen every Thursday. If we do opt out, we will inform families the week prior.
Swimming days:
We will be going to Oconee Aquatics and Recreation on Fridays from 1-3. They will provide a short swim test to determine your child’s swimming abilities. Also, there will be a certified lifeguard on duty while we are in the pool.
Please put your child's name on all swimming stuff, such as swim bag, sunscreen, towels, life jackets, floaters, goggles, etc.
You need to make sure your child has a swimsuit and towel each week! Flip flops, crocs and sandals are preferred footwear for swim days!
We provide sunscreen of 50+ SPF if you don’t want to send any with your child.
What will it cost? $140 per week for one child, with discounts of 20% per child for 2 or more children per family. The code to get the discount is 2ORMORE. Please choose the registration option for 2 or more campers if you are registering more than one camper in your family. Change the number of campers to the number of kids you are registering to be able to add them all under one registration. This will make it easier for check-in and out each day.
Discount code button will be near the bottom just before the payment information block.
We will ask for help with tickets for the big field trips. This extra cost has been added to those weeks. If you are registered for one of those weeks and plans change after we have purchased tickets, you will be responsible for the cost of the ticket. We cannot get refunds on them.
Payments are due by Tuesdays.
There is a $25 fee due with registration. This fee goes towards the t-shirts for field trip days and the water bottles we provide. This fee is due only once.
There will be an additional charge of $5/child for early drop off (before 8:30 am) and $5/child for late pickup (after 4:30 pm). We MUST have prior communication for these options.
Here's the theme for each week of Day Camp:
May 26-29 No camp on Monday, May 25
To kick off the summer, we'll start at the very beginning of the Bible- in Genesis 1. We'll learn about how God created the waters and set the scene for the rest of the summer. We're keeping it simple and fun the field trip this week and going bowling!
Note: This is the only week where the field trip will be on a Thursday (May 29) as camp starts on a Tuesday. Normally field trips are Tuesday. There is also no movie this week.
June 1-5 For week 2, we'll continue with Genesis. We will learn about the Great Flood and Noah's Ark. Speaking of animals; the field trip of the week is to Georgia Safari Conservation Park!* Thursday is movie day and Friday is the pool.
June 8-12 In week 3, we will move to Exodus and our lesson will be on Moses parting the Red Sea. For our field trip this week, the kids will get to tour Legacy Oaks Farm, one of our camp families own horse farm! Thursday is movie day and Friday is the pool.
June 15-19 For week 4, our lesson will be about Jonah and the whale and listening to God's calling in our lives! This week's field trip is a camper and staff favorite: INK (Interactive Neighborhood for Kids). We will get to enjoy their new location! Thursday is movie day and Friday is the pool.
June 22-26 For week 5, we will move into the New Testament and learn about Jesus's baptism and what baptism is. This week's field trip is skating at Fun Galaxy Athens! Thursday is movie day and Friday is the pool.
June 29 - July 3 For week 6, our Bible lesson will focus on Jesus' miracles on the water. We will travel to Fernbank Museum of Natural History for our field trip of the week.* Thursday is movie day and Friday is the pool.
July 6-10 Week 7 is a camper and staff favorite: Christmas in July! Our lesson is found in the gospel of John: the woman at the well, but the rest of the week is Christmas themed! We will not travel anywhere this week for a field trip; instead, we will have a Christmas Extravaganza at the church! Thursday is movie day and Friday is the pool.
July 13-17 For week 8, we will learn how Jesus served his disciples by washing their feet and how we can serve others! In keeping in that theme, we will be having our Lemonade Stand to raise money for Lydia's Place! Thursday is movie day and Friday is the pool.
July 20-24 For our last week, we will learn about Paul and his faith in God when he was shipwrecked. Our final field trip of the summer is our annual trip (although its extra fitting this summer) to the Georgia Aquarium! Thursday is movie day and Friday is the pool.
*Extra fee for field trip tickets.
